FAQ
Meatballs for Muscle Dreams is a month long campaign running from the 1st of November to the end of the month. Unique to the Muscle Help Foundation charity, the campaign seeks to engage the nation’s appetite in raising desperately needed funds, so many more Muscle Dreams can be delivered for children and young people (8 – 28 yrs) with the muscle-wasting disease Muscular Dystrophy. You can nominate someone with MD for a unique (singular) Muscle Dream by clicking here or you can nominate someone with MD to join one of the charity’s Muscle Dream programmes here, where several beneficiaries and their families come together.
Muscle Dreams are once-in-a-lifetime, transformational experiences, moments-in-time or interventions designed for children and young people (8-28yrs) in the UK with the muscle-wasting disease Muscular Dystrophy (MD). Past Muscle Dreams have included beneficiaries hanging out with Sir Lewis Hamilton, taking the controls and experiencing level flight, driving a high-powered sportscar around Silverstone, and learning forest bushcraft skills with Ray Mears, to interviewing ‘the godfather of films’, movie legend, Al Pacino. The charity was very proud to bring 75 vulnerable children, young people and their families from across the UK to attend the 2012 Paralympic Games through its compelling ‘Games Inspired Muscle Dreams Programme’.
Muscular Dystrophy (MD) is the single biggest genetic killer of children in our world today. Classed as a rare disease, it is estimated that there were around 110,000 people affected by a muscle-wasting condition in 2019. MD can have a profound and lifelong impact on the health and quality of life of those affected. Those with MD are being robbed of their mobility, independence and finally, for those with the most severe form known as Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy or DMD, their lives. It is a cruel and unforgiving disease.
Due to the similarity of some of their symptoms, people often confuse Muscular Dystrophy (MD) with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). The two diseases, however, are very different from how they affect the body. Click here to see some of the key differences.
Simply pick a meatball recipe (we have some great options in our recipe section), invite some friends and family over for a meal and ask everyone to make a donation. Click here to register and get involved.
You can host a meatball party anytime that suits you. We kindly ask that you send your donations through to the Muscle Help Foundation by the end of December though.
You can donate here. Thank you. It means so much.
There is no limit! Although for an enjoyable and stress free evening invite as many guests as you can comfortably manage. This is a wonderful way of getting close family and friends around the table.
Your donation will go directly towards fulfilling a young person’s Muscle Dream. On average, it can cost £1,600 to deliver a complete end-to-end experience, depending on what it is. Right now, every penny of your donation will go towards one of these magical moments-in-time. To date, the Muscle Help Foundation charity has nearly delivered 500 Muscle Dreams, leaving a further 157 to go before the goal of 657 is reached, that’s one for every muscle in the human body.
We need to receive your fundraising money by the end of December.
